VioGlass NED/HUD

iPhysicist supplies comprehensive smart headset and heads up display (HUD) solutions, producing core Electro-Optics components that naturally blend true-to-life digital objects with real-world environments.

VioGlass is a novel patented optics that guide an image from a micro-display into the eye to create a virtual image. It is a single optics element that internally incorporates the optical power of several optical elements. The designated market is consumer electronics applications where projection optics is required such as virtual reality glasses (reality is blocked), augmented reality smart glasses (see-through) or mixed reality headsets (interact with virtual images).

VioGlass, optically powered image guide, can be used as a display engine for Near Eye Display (NED) for Glasses, Heads Up Display for automotive or a Pico projector for consumer electronics products.

VioGlass technology demonstrator:

  •  Targeting high volume, consumer electronics low-cost market
  • Superior image quality achieved by high optical performance. High angular resolution close to visual acuity. Optical MTF is close to micro-display native resolution without chromatic aberrations
  • High optical transmission reduces overall glasses’ power consumption, enabling using Micro-OLED for longer battery operation time
  • High Manufacturability achieved by using the same machinery and material as used for lens phone camera manufacturing
  • One module plastic injected for both eyes reducing calibration time
  • Low assembly cost due to loosened tolerances between micro-display and the VioGlass

VioGlass NED advantages:

For VR applications – Thinner than pancake.

Between 10mm to 20mm depends on display and required field of view. Micro-oled locate on side face.

For AR/MR applications – Thin as waveguide.

Superior image quality, high transmission & manufacturability

  • Short time to market. One year from project starting day and rapid ramp up from prototypes to mass production
  • Option: Prescription lenses per user embedded into the VioGlass and not as an add-on
  • Easy to maintain production line. No need for a clean room when assembled with micro-display.
  • Curved, cool shape.
  • Thin, safety (plastic) and lightweight
  • User’s peripheral vision is open
  • Focusing distance can be designed and pre-set as hyperfocal distance (all in focus)
  • Can be used with LCOS or micro-LED for higher outdoor brightness

Current module: 1080P. Road map: 4k, Thinner, wider FOV
